An ARRL Affiliated club
Although fundraising was disappointing, we were able to achieve 501(c)3 status which allowed us to be fiscally run as a legal not-for-profit organization. This sanction allows for tax deductions on charitable giving to Lowell Amateur Radio Club as well as the opportunity to request funding through grants from local foundations.
The Grand Rapids Community Foundation was one of the foundations providing assistance. Through their Lowell fund, the Grand Rapids Community Foundation granted money to pay for the expenses of an upgrade to the repeater.
Now we are in the next phase… Keeping the repeater at a high level of reliability. Our second grant is in the works. It is my hope that this also will be approved and granted.
If you would like to become more personally involved in the Lowell Amateur Radio Club, I welcome you to attend one of our meetings. We meet the second Saturday of every month at 10:00 am at our new shack.
It is located at 11535 E. Fulton, Room 101 - Lowell.
It is just east of the Key Heights Mobile Home Park on the north side of the road, or just west of Lowell Lanes (Bowling Alley), on the opposite side of the road. There is a sign in front of the building that reads 'Flat River Outreach Ministries'. Park on the west side of the building and enter at the southwest corner of the building.
