ABOUT

Hello my name is Abe "w8abe" Kimball I would like to start by saying welcome to my site and hope that you enjoy it. Ok so where do I begin well lets start here. I was born on Febuary 9,1978 at Sparrow hospital located in Lansing, Michigan. I grew up in St. Johns, Michigan where I attended school and graduated from St. Johns High School when I was in school I was more into the shop classes more that anything. After high school I went to Lansing Comunity Collage where I learnd the trade of body shop.

As with many hams my radio carear started out with cb's and like so many cb's out there it was tweaked and peaked, Because there were times that on some sunday afternoons me and my good buddy Joe "kc8wjy" would check into this net way out in Calfornia the only way that the net controller would be able to hear us was with a beam antenna and there would be check in's from as far away as Alaska and so on and so forth, but cb started to get out of hand for me so thats when about the time a good buddy of Joe's Dave Humpherys "n8wth" and his brother Mark "n8def"(r.i.p.) turned me onto ham radio. So I got my ticket about two years ago then I got my three buddys into ham radio Joe "kc8wjy" and Nick "kc8ual" and Travis "kc8ypn. I am active in SKYWARN and C.E.R.T.S. and just reacentily with FEMA. The radios that I use are Yeasu ft 2500m, Yeasu ft 1500m also a Yeasu vx150r ht and an Azden 6m and thoes three radios are just in my rolling ham shack the radios that are in my base shack are a handfull of Kenwoods and Azdens and enough Halicrafters to protect me from a nuclear fall out.

More about me would have to include my other hobbys. One other hobby is mudbogging and working on cars and trucks. I'm what you would call a die hard Ford truck man because my rolling shack is a 1984 Ford 3/4 ton two wheel drive truck that is also my skywarn truck, which has been through at least one tornado. The other hobby that I like to do is fishing and camping. Plus I like to restore old Halicrafter radios. I also like to build copper pipe J-poles which I have gotten really good at building a screaming J-poles for 2m radios.

Well thats just about it like I said I hope that you like my site. So look for more updates when I can think of some. 73's Abe "w8abe" Kimball.
