The Wenatchee Chapter of the Apple Valley Red Cross now has a very up graded Radio System installed in their Vehicles and Office, thanks to the support of various members of the Local Amateur Radio Community. With the new up grade of VHF/UHF Radio’s we will be able to talk within the Greater Wenatchee Valley area.  In addition to this coverage area we anticipate in the very near future of reaching even farther out into the 4 County areas of Chelan, Douglas Grant and Okanogan.  This will give us much needed Communications in the event of Wild Land Range Fires,  Forest Fires, Flooding and etc., when our help is ask for.  Various Agencies depend on the Local Red Cross for support of Lunches, Water Shelters, Feeding, and etc.. Cell Phones are not the total, “Cats Meow”, as some people may think. When large event happen there is over load problems in the Cell Phone department and that is where our new Radio System will be a great advantage to us as well as the Community. The Chapter would like to THANK the folks that made this Project happen.
