About Me

I live in Ashland, Oregon, where I practice Oriental medicine.  My patients primarily have cancer or some other serious illness. (In practical terms, this means that most of the people I know suffer greatly and/or die.)   I also write, lecture, and consult about medicine, personal development, spirituality, and prayer.

Previously, I did other things, such as being a police officer in a major metropolitan area, a fireman, a paramedic.  Operated a successful private forensic science laboratory; lost it all during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.  Taught high school English in a depressed area where English was often a student’s third language and it was considered a good year if no student was murdered.   Spent some time in the Coast Guard doing very interesting activities that involved ships, seawater, and injured people.  Much time with a volunteer wilderness search and rescue unit.  Along the way I found time to obtain a BA in Police Science, a MS in Criminology, a MS in Oriental medicine, and a PhD in Psychology.  I’m national board certified in acupuncture, licensed to practice in three states, a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and have a library card.

I was first licensed as an amateur radio operator in 1958.
