Welcome
to W7KF Howdy! My name is Doug and I've been an amateur radio operator since 1965 and involved in technology pretty much my entire life. I started out as a broadcast DJ in the early 1970's, quickly progressing to being a broadcast engineer working at various stations in the northwest and finally ending up as Chief Engineer of KING AM/FM in Seattle in the 1980s. Seeking to fulfill a lifelong dream, I then became a Merchant Marine Radio Officer (ARA) and sailed all over the world on ships like the MV Green Wave and SS Tampa Bay. I worked as an R/O throughout Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, sailing both the SS Comet and the SS Cornhusker State in the Persian Gulf. In the 1990's I went into software engineering, working in C/C++ for a wide variety of software companies in and around the Redmond, Washington area. Recently, I moved back to my home state, Montana. And, as far as work goes, here's a pic that may help explain where I am and what I'm doing most of the time... ![]() Back to Top |
