Moved to Elko,  Nevada  in July  1999.  Time to renew the
ticket, so we changed the address and got a new callsign.

First year lived in a  trailer  rented from K7OYJ.
Nelson is  a  man of leisure,  rarely  gets out of
bed  before noon. Truly the  Hugh Hefner of Elko.

First Christmas in Elko,  decorated the tower
with lights.  You could  see the QTH anywhere
from the west side of town.

Put together a  shack  in one  of the small
rooms.   Nelson, K7OYJ  and  Jerry Perkins,
W7YDX, helped me put the tower and X7 up.

Found the perfect QTH 13 miles south of
Elko. House sits  on top of a  high bluff,
lots of land  for  antennas and no power
lines  with S8  noise like the Vegas QTH.
Has  a  walkout half basement. Remodled
it  into   a  shack  and   2  other  rooms.

We're about 1700 mtr above sea level and
the view  of Ruby Mountains  is awesome.

A photo of  the X7  heading  up the tower
on the tram line.  Met Mike Ives, KD7DZD.
Lives  right  below,  near the  base of the
bluff.  He  came a visit'n  and helped  get
everything squared away.

And finally the shack.  Have a nice
12'x 20' room and store room with
space for a workbench,  couch and
file  cabinets.  Double  doors  lead
outside  close  to  the tower base.

Get  lucky  by  getting one of these
QSL's,  then take it,  together  with
1 buck, cash American, on the barrel
head  and  you can get a fine cup o'
sludge  at  just  about  any  greasy
spoon  in  the  good  ol'  U. S. of  A.
