THE BIG DK3 ANTENNA
Hello I am W6RHA Milan Terkla SR. From Watsonville CA, and am an owner of a big DK3 MOBILE ANTENNA Designed by Don Johnson W6AAQ from Esparto CA. ( 530-787-3905 ) . Just think you are driving down the road at night or in the day time and you are changing frequencys or bands from with in the car and it is raining or windy and there are no coils to change or taps to change Hard to believe ? not if you use a DK3 ANTENNA. Mine is mounted on the back bumper of my 1988 Delta 88 Olds and am using an ICOM 730 ( 100 WATTS ). The bottom section of the antenna is a two inch dia. by three foot long aluninum irrigation pipe with a screw driver motor in it that drives the coil up and down to change frequency or bands I use a spring loaded DPDT switch center off and have it arranged so that up switch is up coil and down switch is down coil. I just change frequencies or bands and inject some A. M. into the antenna, key the rig and watch my SWR and when it falls to minimum the DK3 is tuned. My SWR is usually 1.05 to 1 then of course when you mobile down the road a slight retunning is necessary to make up for the territory around you.. the DK3 is made for the working class or retired person and is very reasonably priced. Why pay 200 TO 300 hundred bucks when you can have a DK3.
