Welcome...this webspace is designed to describe my experiences with amateur radio, affectionately known as "ham" radio. My call is w6qle, and my name is Jim. I have been licensed as an amateur for almost 2 years. I currently hold a technician class license, but I am working on CW and should soon pass the test to get at least my General ticket (I have already passed the 3(a) exam). I'll be taking the 1(b) element within a couple of weeks...and them I can begin to have fun with my BOATANCHOR radios.
BOATANCHORS is an endearing term for those large, heavy and warm running radios and test equipment of yesteryear...those with TUBES!
In the meantime, I have several Handie Talkies (HT's) which keep me busy:
I will have many links to other ham-related pages, and as my site grows
I invite you to come back to see the gear in my shack. There will be photos,
links to manuals and online resources
