The LWARC radio station, W6LY, is located in Laguna Woods Village in Clubhouse One. For HF bands we have a Kenwood TS450S. The HF antennas are a Hy Gain Explorer 14, a four element three band beam, up 50 feet and a Carolina Windom. We also have facilities to work the VHF/UHF 2 meter, 220 mhz, 440 mhz and 1.2 ghz bands. Our digital modes are Packet and PSK31. We are heavily involved in providing emergency communications for the communities earthquake preparedness program. We are also a state sanctioned Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) unit for the city of Laguna Woods. All of our equipment can be operated either with commercial or emergency power.
