On June 25th and 26th 2011 we again held Field Day at the EOC in Laguna Woods City Hall. We had SSB Voice, CW and Digital modes of operation.

Our contact points were 722 and our total points were 972.

Art K7TX, Dick KD6IEE, Don K6IAA, Jim K6EEE, Joe KB0IG, Kim WA6JLO, Larry K6LDH, Lee K6QAX and Paul W6AST participated in all the necessary chores needed to set up, operate and disassemble the field day site and equipment.

We want to thank Sandy, a member of the city staff, for acting as a chaperone. To Leslie Keane, City Manager, our appreciation and thanks for allowing us to use City Hall as our field day site and also for staying with us.

2011 GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT

The Great California Shakeout is a day of special events featuring the largest earthquake drill ever organized to inspire Californians to get ready for big earthquakes. On Thursday October 20, 2011 at 10:21 AM The Laguna Woods Village Disaster Preparedness Task Force conducted an earthquake drill in conjunction with The California Shakeout. The Amateur Radio Club provided backup communications for the Disaster Task Force, At 10:21 our members called net control at W6LY and were assigned stations to go to and make contact with Disaster Task Force coordinators. Fourteen (14) members participated in this drill.They were:
