The Laguna Woods Amateur Radio Club has been in operation over 30 years and its membership is composed of residents who live in the retirement community of Laguna Woods Village and are licensed amateurs. At present we have 35 members.

The club station, W6LY, is located in Laguna Woods Village Clubhouse One. Our HF band radios are a Kenwood TS 450S and an Icom IC 718. The HF antennas are a Hy Gain four element three band beam up 50 feet on a tower and a Carolina Windom.

We have equipment to work the 2 meter, 6 meter, 220 MHz, 440 MHz and 1.2 GHz bands. We also operate various digital modes.

We are involved in providing emergency communications for The Village's Emergency Preparedness Program. We are a sanctioned Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) for The City of Laguna Woods.
