Power User Tips for Repeater Operation

This is a fast-paced presentation by Bruce Nolte, N1BN giving an illustrated overview of what repeaters are, how they work and how to take full advantage of the power of a repeater. Bruce has been licensed since 1988 and holds an Extra class license. In the 1990s he was one of the volunteer traffic handlers on the W6FNO repeater that handled hundreds of realtime highway emergency calls for motoring hams per year. Professionally Bruce is a documentary filmmaker.

Meetings
The Pasadena Radio Club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month, except December, at 7:00 PM at the Walnut Center location of Kaiser Permanente, 393 E. Walnut Street.

Enter at the public/visitor entrance at the southern end of the parking structure on Los Robles just north of Walnut. Take a parking ticket, (this ticket must be validated at the security desk). Once inside, sign in at the security desk (and validate your parking ticket) and follow the crowd to the meeting room on the first floor, Usually room 1D in the NorthWest corner. Everyone is welcome, you do not have to be a Ham, but you should have at least an interest in Ham Radio

Board of Directors meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm, at the same location.

Weekly two-meter net and repeater frequencies: Except on meeting night (the fourth Tuesday of January through November) the Club meets on the air at 7:00 pm Pacific Time on Tuesday evenings. The two meter net is conducted on the Telephone Company repeater. The Club does not have its own repeater. We use the following repeaters with the kind permission of their respective owners:

Weekly CW Practice Net:
The Club has a slow speed CW practice net at 7 pm every Sunday, on 28.130 MHz. We generally call the net at about 10 WPM, but we will slow down to accommodate the operators who check in. This net is for learning & gaining confidence, so don't feel bad if your code isn't perfect!
