Chief Balderston:
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your “power
failure exercise.” Drills like the one
this morning make it much easier to recruit and retain radio amateur volunteers
and, of course, makes us all more proficient.
Your staff was, as always, professional and courteous – a
real pleasure to work with.
We had sixteen hams participate – eleven in Roswell and one
each in Artesia, Carlsbad, Hagerman, Hobbs and San Patricio (with relay to
Ruidoso). Eight of the hams were
mobile.
We sent mobile stations to the four corners of Roswell, to
the airport passenger terminal, to six-mile hill and to Bitter Lakes. Simplex communication (no repeater used) was
good to all Roswell locations,
including the airport terminal.
Your emergency generator power was excellent. My test equipment indicated “rock solid”
frequency and voltage – every bit as good as the commercial mains.
Our log is attached.
Sincerely,
Alfred L. Lindsey
