Club Station for the Aircraft Carrier USS Lexington

The Armadillo Gang is an association of Amateur Radio Operators formed in 1981. The group's goal is to provide emergency communications when normal communications are lost as a result of a major storm or disaster. The Armadillo Gang has restored donated equipment and maintains it in good working condition. We participate each year in the Field Day nationwide emergency drill sponsored by the ARRL . The drill refreshes skills and equipment needed during an emergency. The Armadillo Gang also provides special event stations at community festival celebrations and for Boy Scout Jamborees on the Air. The group is always open to the opportunity to provide this service. The most recent activity in this area is the establishment of our club station, W5LEX, aboard USS Lexington with plans to include a museum of radio communications. This project is ongoing and donations are always welcome.
