The Lexington Update

Larry Boudreau N5XCI became a Lexington Volunteer with the Lexington Live
aboard Program. He will work with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, NAVY NJROTC,
and Sea Scouts.  Larry will teach radio subjects to scouts working for
their Radio Merit Badge. Larry will be looking for help from Amateur Radio
community to help with teaching. As a volunteer, Larry will be making The
Armadillo Gang a well-known club on
board the USS LEXINGTON.

COAST HURRICANE DRILL


Tuesday, June 22, 1999 a mock storm named "PANDORA" will be part of a National Hurricane Drill. The event goes from nine a.m. to noon, CDT(1400-1700 UTC).

Participants for this mock storm include:
Amateur operators at the National Hurricane Center
All Gulf Coast NWS offices
Gulf Coast NASA centers
State and Local Agencies

We invite and encouraged Gulf Coast Industrial Plants to join in.  CC-NWS will participate on 7.285 (40 meters) and 147.080 VHF.  They have planned this event in cooperation with ARRL  South Texas Sector Chief Ray Taylor and SKYWARN.

The  message was sent to Larry N5XCI by John Metz  Meteorologist  CCNWS.

KID'S DAY
JUNE 19,1999
Time 1800-2400 UTC.

 
This is the day to get on the radio and let kids experience Amateur Radio.

The suggested Frequencies are:
28350 to 28400 kHz and 14270 to 14300 kHz.

Suggested exchange:        Name, age, location, and favorite color. Call
"CQ Kids Day."

Awards:
All participants are eligible to receive a certificate. See the June 99 QST page 33.

Meetingdates:

The Armadillo Gang's meeting in March is at Harvey's Barn Door Saturday, June 19.  Breakfast may be purchased at 8:00 a.m. Harvey's Barn Door is located at 4135 S. Alameda.

STARC's meeting is on the fouth Thursday of the month at the Windsor Park Church of Christlocated at 4420 S. Staples.The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

SPEARS's meeting is 2nd Saturday, 8:00 AM @ The Butter Churn in Sinton3rd Saturday, 6:00 PM @ Chela's in Corpus Christi
