Who are we? We are: Your neighbor next door, your closest friend, the local doctor, a truck driver, a pilot, a housewife, a retiree, a high school student, a college student, just ordinary people. We have fun with the hobby but we also know when to get serious, such as during severe weather or emergencies.
We would like to tell you a little about Chickasaw Amateur Radio Association (C.A.R.A.). We have been in existence since 1975 and were incorporated as a non-profit corporation in August of 1976. We currently own and operate two repeaters on the frequency 146.91/31. The primary repeater is located in Hernando, Mississippi on the water tank just west of Interstate 55. C.A.R.A. also has a back up repeater that is located on Pleasant Hill Road in Olive Branch, just north of Goodman Road.
The purpose of Chickasaw Amateur Radio Association is to promote the advancement of amateur radio while providing a valuable service to the public, particularly with respect to emergency communications. To provide training, we conduct a Training and Information Net on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. Join us for these nets even if you are not part of our organization.
We would love for you to attend one of our club meetings and, if desired, become part of our organization. If you would like to join C.A.R.A., simply fill out the attached application and return it to the above address along with your $30.00 membership fee. This fee covers membership for your entire family.
Thank you,
Chickasaw Amateur Radio Association Board Members
