News:
* November 11, 2006—Return of the Snowbirds - Port Isabel, Texas . We are  currently planning to hold the Return of the Snowbird Special Event this year in Port Isabel at Texas Pack, Inc.  Thanks to Ray McLaughlin, Sr. W5CZI and Ray McLaughlin, Jr. KD5MKV we will operate from a building on Texas Pack property not far from where the Union encampment was located during the war.   We had over 80 people attend the November 05 event and everyone had a great time.  You do not have to be a member of CHARRO to join in the fun -  anyone who is interested in Ham Radio is welcome to attend. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Talk-in is on 147.120 (114.8).  Set up will begin at 8AM local time.  Come on down and spend a beautiful Saturday in Port Isabel !  Information may be found in the November issue of CQ and World Radio or on line at the ARRL web site for Special Events. * May 20, 2006 - Palmetto Hill - CHARRO   hosted a huge special event to commemorate the last battle of the Civil War - Palmetto Hill. This years SE was held in Port Isabel, Texas near the site of the Federal Forces encampment during the Civil War. Contact information for the event this year is listed above, or you can use the call book information.  Please send an SASE for your certificate and card. For more information, visit announcements.

*  TEST SESSIONS - CHARRO  hosted several ARRL/VEC Test Sessions in  2006. The last session for 2006 has held on Saturday September 31. Interested in upgrading? Contact Bob A. Austin, N5VC. Sessions will be held in 2007 at Brooke Insurance Agency, 2414 Central Blvd, Brownsville at 9:00 AM.  Contact Bob for the dates available in Brownsville or for date and location for the other test sites in the Valley.  Be sure to bring a photocopy of your original license (if applicable) and identification.

* 2007 Dues - CHARRO ARC Dues are still only $10.00 ! It's the best buy in Ham radio today.  Send in your 07 dues today to the callbook address of N5WSD today. New Members please include e-mail address or a phone number. We need your support and you will have fun at our coffee meetings and Special Events.

If you live or are visiting the area please feel welcome to stop by and join in on the fun. * Coffee - Everyone is invited to attend the coffee meetings every Saturday morning at 10am in the Food Court at the Sunrise Mall in Brownsville.  The Mall is located at FM 802 and Expressway 77.  Talk-in on 147.120.
