The 145.210 Repeater

The repeater system is composed of sub-systems. Those sub-systems are:

1. VHF RF and audio are provided by a Vertex-Standard VXR9000 50 watt repeater, programmed for @ 20 watts output.

2. UHF link RF and audio are provided by a Vertex-Standard VX-2100 mobile unit. Note: both units above have been somewhat modified from their stock configuration. This was done for technical reasons. You can read all about these units by clicking here.

3. Repeater control, audio switching, etc., is provided by an NHRC-5, which also processes the audio. This control system also uses two NHRC-DAD digital audio delay units.

4. An external UHF control system uses another VX-2100. This system also uses a NHRC-Remote+ DTMF control unit. The purpose of this system is to allow absolute on/off control of the repeater by a means external to the repeater system.

Note: NHRC technical information is available by clicking here.

5. System power is provided by Samlex SX-1212 switching power supplies. Two units will power the repeater system, but only one will be active. The 2nd unit is for redundancy. Either power supply can be turned on/off by command from #4 above. Tech info here.

6. A rack mounted fan is controlled via thermostat.

7. The cabinet is an older Motorola provided weather-proof (resistant?) model that was carefully set aside some years back for this project. It originally shipped as an option with the Micor series of fixed infrastructure.
