The official name of our club is Southwest Louisiana Amateur Repeater Club but we go by the name Gator Amateur Radio Society or GARS. We meet the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Safety Council building on the corner of Ryan and Clarence Streets in Lake Charles, LA. We welcome all visitors.
Our area Two Meter Net meets on 146.73 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 8:00 PM. Please check in when you can. This is a good opportunity to check out your equipment and stay in touch with fellow hams in the area.
Also, don't forget the ARES net on HF each Sunday evening at 7:30 PM on 3.873 mHz. We need representation from the Southwest district.
Area repeaters and PL tones are as follows.
- 146.730 PL 173.8
- 145.210 PL 103.5
- 145.350 PL 103.5
- 444.300 PL 88.5
We have a digipeater (W5BII) operating on 144.390 for APRS. We also have a packet digipeater (LCH) operating on 145.010. An RMS packet gateway will be activated during an emergency that will allow packet messages to be sent and received as e-mail via the Internet. This station call is WA5LQZ-10.
