Here are photos from the BLT-20 Pre-Launch Campaign!

Scott WA5LHM and Andy W5ACM have everything set to go for video recording of signals from the main payload. Payload Master Mike WA5TWT got his mapping program set up with the APRS signals on 440.950 MHz earlier.

Payload Master Tony N5RPQ initializes the Wing Glider's ATV, GPS, RC system and APRS transmitter.

Mike tapes the main payload shut while Cindy and Allen Pierce look on. Prior to flight, Mike will disconnect the external battery and pull the arming plug for the back-up Wing-Glider cut-down system. Photo Master Pete KD5ELH will turn on the 35-mm camera and activate the timer circuit. Pete has already turned on the crossband repeater.

Tom K5SAF, Terry and Helium Man Charlie K5ENG get the Totex 1200 filled with helium.

Charlie showed up for the launch - loaded... with Helium. We had enough to gas up two balloons if necessary. Charlie was Prepared!

Charlie W5BAA, Tom and Terry just have a few more pounds of lift to go...

Don't forget the "REWARD" labels! Tony put one on the Wing Glider, and Mike put one on the main payload.

George W5GFP has everything set for video and GPS data reception from the Wing Glider. Allen helps out with last-minute details. The 23-cm Helix by Ed N5EM and 70-cm Yagi are on a Yaesu AZ-EL rotator. George had a very quiet Honda generator set up about 75-feet downwind for power.

We're READY, but we NEED to hurry! The Wing Glider's batteries are quickly draining, and the storm is rapidly approaching the field... Will we make it in time??

Launch Happened at 10:38 AM on August 21, 2004 from the Wharton Regional Airport. We Were There!!!
