Bernie's Bench

Working on eletronics since 1950, or thereabouts.

This is now the Bernie Memorial. My father passed away April 22, 2000.  We hope to be able to pass along his knowledge and his courage for the future.

Home      Hello there, the handle here is Bernie. I live in Opelika, AL with my wife Carmen, (WB4VUU) and the occasional daughter. I've been a Ham since 1952. I'm proud to have three generations of Hams in the family. My mother, Ruth's call sign was W4BWR, and all three of my daughters, as well as my son-in-law,  got their ticket in the past 5 years.
Although I have many hobbies, and have had many others over the years, Ham radio has always been the primary object of my attention.
Welcome to "Bernie's Bench", my virtual workbench where I can share my creations with any interested parties.
Micro-Meter      The first project that I'll publish here is the Micro-Watt Meter.
Check back in a while for more.
Z-BOX       A companion accessory for the micro-watt meter. This is handy for checking oscilator, driver, or amplifier stages in a transmitter that is not 50 ohms output.
Reciever Modifications       I used a reciever kit to experiment with the NE 602 OSC/Mix IC.  It worked well, however I encountered some problems. I built a seven element Chevyshev low-pass filter C in/out using standard capacitor values.
Signal Generator
   Amplifier
Wouldn't it be nice to have a signal generator that could put out power up to 50 mw? I needed one to test filters that I have constructed.
