My first attempt at home studio. Kinda cramped, but functional.
This wa my first Part 15 antenna. It was a base loaded 3 meter mast with a SStran 100mw transmitter at the bottom of the coil. This was used by Radio 2-5-2. It has since been dismantled and replaced.
This is the tower site of 1420 AM WVOT in Wilson, NC. Note the bent tower in the back. The tower was over 50 years old, and collapsed during a windy storm. This picture was taken several months ago, so I don't know if the tower has been replaced. The studios were once in front of the towers, right about where you see the standing water. Fire claimed the 1940's studio building in 1992.
Another view of the hopelessly doubled-over WVOT tower/
Transmitter building for 590 AM  WGTM in Wilson, NC. Willis Broadcasting sure has a way with radio stations, eh?
The current WVOT studio, located in an old, creaky house on Jackson Street in downtown Wilson. The station is currently owned by a neighboring church.
WGTM studios on NC 42, west of Wilson. The Campbell family moved operations here in the early 70's. Willis Broadcasting converted the front offices into a religious supply store.
Studios and transmitter site for 1350 AM WLLY in Wilson, NC. The Hominy Swamp creek runs behind the property. It was badly flooded in 1999 after  Hurricane Floyd. WLLY continues to operate from this site.
The current Radio 2 5 2 studio. Since this photo was taken, the CRT displays have been replaced with LCD's. A couple of dbx mic processors have been added and a new production mixer is on the way.
On-air studio for WFMC, 730AM in Goldsboro, NC
The view from the air-chair at the now defunct WKIX (Kix Country) in Goldsboro, NC. Amazingly, the Auditronics board pictured was the very same unit used at 96.9 on both WEQR and WKTC. Curtis Media gets mileage out of their stuff.
This is the new Part 15 antenna for Radio 2 5 2.  Our 100mw (on a good day) signal is radiated into space via this brand new antenna. It's still shiny! For you antenna geeks, yes that is a capacity hat on the top.
DON's HASTILY TOSSED TOGETHER RADIO SCRAPBOOK,  er, SCRAP PAGE. WHATEVER.
Remember Goldsboro's original WEQR at 96.9 FM? Great station. This is one of their logos. In 1989, WEQR became....
Me, on the air at WGTM sometime around 1983-ish. Note the McMartin board, the $40 Radio Shack mic, the stacks of 45's and the cart decks.
