Hello, I'll give you a little biography of myself, I'm only just starting to learn how to set up a webpage, so this won't be very fancy right now.

I live north of Efland, in Orange County, North Carolina about 15 miles west of Durham. My wife, Karen, and I live in a wooded area, with a brand new reservoir filling up next to our property. I've been working since 1993 at Duke University , just recently started a new job there in the Transgenic Facility where I am part of a team that creates transgenic mouse models for human disease. Karen is director of activities at a rehabilitation center, also in Durham.

I've been a ham since 1991 and hold an Extra class license, Karen holds the call KD4YJZ and has held a Technician's license since 1994. I like DX'ing and a little contesting, especially Field Day. However my first love in ham radio is emergency response. I am the Emergency Coordinator for Orange County ARES, and also president of the Orange County Radio Amateurs - a local club with emergency response as one of it's primary missions. I am a volunteer with the Durham Search and Rescue Team where I serve as a mantracker and communicator. I am also a Disaster Action Team Captain with the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross as well as the Vice Chairman of their Board of Directors.

Recently, I've gotten into APRS- a very versatile and useful form of packet radio and have installed APRS stations in my home, the Red Cross building, and have at the county Emergency Operations Center.

As you can see I keep myself busy. When not doing radio related work, I may be found fishing, hiking or organic gardening. I have also been a reenactor since 1976 with His Majesty's 64th Regiment of Foot, which portrays a British infantry regiment that served here during the American War for Independence. I have the honor of holding a Captain's rank and the Command of the Major's Company in this organization. I have taken part in reenactments  from South Carolina through Quebec and been to England twice with the Regiment.

All this doesn't leave much spare time. Let's just say I enjoy life and I'm happy to have fun while performing some service.
