Hello, my name is Roger Gregory. I live in Union County which is in the upstate of South Carolina. I am employed with the Union County Sheriff's Office. I began my Law Enforcement Career in 1976 as a Dispatcher / Jailer under Sheriff J. Harold Lamb. I continued working for Sheriff Lamb for the next four years during which time my duties included jailer, dispatcher, and Patrol Deputy. In 1981, Sheriff William A. Jolly took office. During the next 12 years under Sheriff Jolly my duties included Patrol Deputy, Training Sgt., Evidence Custodian, Detective, Detective Lt., and Captain with investigations. In 1993 Sheriff W. Howard Wells took office and I was given the assignment of Captain over the Patrol Division, and continued to be in charge of all the training and remained the Evidence Custodian for the Sheriff's Office. In February of 2001 I was promoted to Chief Deputy ( 2nd in command ) with the Sheriff's Office. As Chief Deputy I oversee the daily activities of the Sheriff's Office and assume the duties and responsibilities of the Sheriff in his absence.

My wife Kathy is a Registered Nurse. We have been married 31 years. We have one daughter Julie who is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She works in Spartanburg, S.C.

I am an Licensed Amateur Radio Operator, also known as a "ham". If you would like to talk to me. I spend a lot of time in the Extra portion of 20 meters. My Ham Callsign, W4RWG, is a vanity callsign indicating my initials, Roger W. Gregory . I hold an Extra class Amateur Radio operator's license having been first licensed in 1993 as a no-code Technician. I passed my 13 wpm cw in 1997, upgraded to General the same year, upgraded to Advanced in 1998, and Extra when restructuring took place. I am President of the Union County Amateur Radio Club, and trustee of the clubs repeaters (K4USC) which operate on the frequencys of 145.150 MHz., 146.685 MHz., and 442.100 MHz. I serve as a certified Volunteer Examiner for the Western Carolina Amateur Radio Society (W.C.A.R.S.) and the America Radio Relay League (A.R.R.L.)

I also serve as South Carolina Director for the SouthEastern Repeater Association Inc. (S.E.R.A.) responsible for the Coordination of Amateur Repeaters in South Carolina, and write the South Carolina News for the SouthEastern Repeater Association Journal. I enjoy my work with the S.E.R.A. very much. I welcome news from Amateur Clubs or special interest groups around the State. Put me on your email list each month to receive your newsletter.
