146.730 Repeater Requires
CTCSS Access:
141.3 Hz

It is important for all Amateurs, NAREA members or otherwise, to know that the 146.73 repeater remains an "open" repeater for the use of all licensed hams. The 141.3 Hz access tone is  public knowledge, so tell your friends!

About the Club

NAREA is a modestly-sized Amateur Radio organization comprised of members residing or employed primarily in the northwest suburbs of St. Louis County. Our members come from many backgrounds, but find common interest in a friendly, informal ham radio club setting. The club's focus is general amateur radio issues, and public service activities.

Scheduled Club Events

Monthly Meetings are held on the first Wednesday at the Bridgeton Community Center, 4201 Fee Fee Road (roughly halfway between Natural Bridge and St. Charles Rock Roads -- see map below for directions). Meetings commence at 7:30 p.m. New members are welcome!

Weekly Breakfast gatherings occur each Saturday at 7:30 AM Current location is the Sunrise Restaurant on Lindbergh Blvd. in St. Ann, south of Old St. Charles Rd. Restaurant access is northbound only, so southbound drivers must use Whitehall Rd. U-turn ramp for best access.

Field Day for 2007 is on Saturday & Sunday June 23-24, and will be held at O'Connor Park in Bridgeton. The park is located in the Carrollton West subdivision in the northwest part of the city.  The park's entrance is at the end of  Hemet Lane 1 block West of Woodford Way. The park has 37 acres and plenty of the right combination of open spaces and tall trees to support just about any typical field day antenna configuration. The operating site is inside an open sided pavilion. There is a male and  a female rest room facility with running water. A playground is also available for the younger set.

The NAREA Club typically operates as Class 2A. We enjoy a relaxed and informal Field Day, and visitors are enthusiastically welcomed!

Club-Operated Repeaters

NAREA operates two FM voice repeater systems on 146.730 (-600 KHz offset, 141.3 Hz CTCSS) and 443.450 (+5 MHz offset). These repeaters are open for the use of all amateur operators. Autopatch access, available on the 2M repeater, is a benefit of membership.

Affiliations & Activities

NAREA is an ARRL Affiliated Club. There are several members actively participating in other amateur radio organizations as well.

The club has established an informal mutual support partnership tenure with DePaul Health Center.  The hospital provides penthouse space, and  roof access for our repeater equipment as well as, use of a telephone line, and access to emergency power. Several club members are officially registered as emergency communication volunteers at the hospital, to support their needs when situations warrant.

Club members regularly participate in the numerous public service opportunities available to the St. Louis area amateur community. The club will also periodically respond to requests to organize and sponsor communications support for area charitable events.
