·        Meeting held at ‘Unitarian Universalist Hall’ at 801 Georgia St.

·        Call to order at 7:45 by Dean Nickless.

·        Minutes from the August meeting approved as read.

·        Treasurer report of $390.91 + $50.00 cash accepted as read.

OLD BUSINESS

·        Report on the West Summerland tower project as having been down since the first of the month with nothing happening as of yet on the new construction.

·        Dean has hand carried the Key West Club and Florida Keys Club donations and letter for the use of Blue Heron Park during Field Day to Liz.

·        The Christmas Dinner will be held at the Trumbo Palms once again with the invitation going to both clubs. Friday, December 6 with cocktails at 7:30 and dinner at 8:00. After discussion the traditional Turkey and Ham dinner was decided on at a cost of  $18.40 per person.

NEW BUSINESS

·        Hamfest tickets can be obtained from Shirley for the Miami Hamfest to be held February 1 & 2 at a cost of $6.00

·        Lou Persons still has a 40 ft. crank-up tower for sale for $200.00 if anyone is interested.

·        Dean read a notice from the ARRL on the lock down of freq tagged as unusable until further notice due to the storms in the gulf states from La. To Fla.

·        Dean relayed a concern that the Florida Keys Club has about power line interference, specifically in Marathon and in general in most areas up and down the Keys.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

·        Marshall relayed that the Department of Emergency Management has been awarded $434,000.00 to use for disaster response. Drills will be carried out by 5 man teams in 7 districts with a future goal of recruiting 1000 volunteers statewide. Marshall will be doing some research on this matter.
