RARS SPARK-GAP CHATTER

MARCH, 2005

The last meeting of the Roanoke Amateur Radio Society was held at the Emergency Management Building in Williamston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February  15, 2005.  Vice President Harold Riddick (KC4ZMF) welcomed seven members.  The minutes were approved as written in the news letter and the treasurer, Hugh Lindsley (N4WHT), distributed a handout showing the financial activities of the month and reporting a balance of $1,033.13.

OLD BUSINESS

Everyone was reminded that time is here to pay club dues.  The first person in the family is $25.00 and the family is $35.00. Dues can be sent to Hugh Lindsley at 1607 NC HWY 171, JAMESVILLE, NC 27846 or paid at a monthly meeting.  Everyone was also reminded that the dues need to be paid by the April meeting to continue to receive a mailed newsletter or an e-mail address can be provided to continue to receive news letters by Internet.
The first topic of discussion was the location of the Emergency Management in the Courthouse in Williamston.  Harold announced the name of the new Emergency Management Coordinator in Martin County to be that of Thomas Hall.
Plans for the 2005 Swapfest were discussed next.  Everyone agreed to be responsible for the same duties as they performed in last yearâ?Ts Swapfest.  Steve Rawls (K4SER) reported that Tar Heel Antennas is constructing the antenna to be given as the second prize.  Tickets need to be sold!

NEW BUSINESS

The invitation to set up a special events station at the Washington County Relay for Life event was delivered to the club by Jo Ann Tetterton (KC4PTA).  The walking team from the First Christian Church in Plymouth has invited the club to be a part of their activities, which begin on May 13.  Discussion was favorable, but no decision was made and it was decided to discuss the activity more at the next meeting.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting will be held at 7:30 on Tuesday night, March 15, 2005, at the Emergency Management Building in Plymouth.  Everyone is reminded that this is a new location in Plymouth.
