Heathkit DX-35

Well, I was going to finish the HE-30 recapping but found this at the Stone Mtn. hamfest.

A pity it's got the two extra holes in the front panel, but I got it cheap and the fellow assured me the power transformer was sound

Turns out he was right about the transformer! As you can see, the insides are looking pretty good. The switch on the front panel

is a replacement meter switch. The original switch must have been too difficult to get to for the previous owner. I haven't a clue yet as to what the

pot on the right hand side is all about.

Well, it's been re-capped by someone, but I had to drag out a bunch of mods. I was lucky enough to get a copy of the manual with the rig.

It finally tunes and loads on all the bands. I stuck those big mica caps up there. They'll go as soon as I get some smaller ones.

I haven't checked out the audio side of things yet. I did find an old issue of CQ with some suggested improvements for the rig, so I may add those.

Note the power resistors used to keep the filter electrolytics warm :)

If you've got a DX-35 I'd like to hear from you!

Remember, with the voltages used in this equipment, it's Safety First!!
