MAURY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

FIELD DAY 2000

Field Day Pin

Maury Amateur Radio Club's Field Day 2000 was operated from OXY Park again this year. We operated under the club call of W4GGM and was in the 4A class. This means we operated 4 HF stations simultaneously and the transmitters and receivers were under generated power. We also were allowed to operate a Novice/Tech station, under the call of KG4GCZ, without changing our classification. We had a station also operating digital mode of PSK31 on 20 meters. There was a demonstration of SSTV and Natural Power (QRP operating on gel-cel charged by solar panel). Approximately 86 people showed up at this year's Field Day either to help with the setup/takedown, operations, or just to stop by and visit or give support. Thanks goes out to all the hard but fun work put in by everyone this year. With all their support, FIELD DAY 2000 was a huge success ! THANKS !

Below is a summary of this years score

BAND CW DIGITAL PHONE
80 24   111
40 133   199
20 30 48 194
15 63   106
OTHER 5
NOVICE     150
TOTAL 255 48 760

QRP SOLAR POWERED STATION had 5 contacts on 20 meter CW.
NOVICE STATION had
150 contacts on 10 meter phone.

Total CW QSOs ... 255 x 2 = 510
Total Digital QSOs ... 48 x 2 = 96
Total Phone QSOs ... 760 x 1 = 760
Total QSO points = 1366

All operation were done at 100 watts or less giving us a multiplier of 2 (1366 x 2) = 2732

We also got to add 1000 Bonus points for :
1. 100% Emergency power x 4 transmitter = 400 points
2. Media publicity (article in newspaper) = 100 points
3. Locating in a public place (OXY Park) = 100 points
4. Information booth (sign in and hand-out table) = 100 points
5. Message origination to Section Manager = 100 points
6. Non-traditional demo (SSTV) = 100 points
7. Natural power (QRP and gel-cel/solar panel) = 100 points

So the total bottom line score for the MARC Field Day 2000 was:
3732 POINTS
