Ok a bit of explanation about my callsign change. It is an old tradition in amateur radio to honor someone by picking up their callsign when they become a silent key. That is what I have done, I picked up Uncle Ralph's callsign as an honor to him. He was the one who first introduced me to amateur radio I believe this was back in 1972. He could work H.F. mobile, and the thing that really impressed me was when he took out his H.T. and operated the autopatch on Mt. Cheha using just a "Rubber Duck" antenna, I thought there was something magical  about that little 6" antenna to be able to communicate that well over that much range from a handheld radio that was powered by 10 AA sized NiCd's or 8 AA alkalines (with 2 dummy batteries to fill in the remaining 2 slots) for a total of 12Vdc and not a lot of current. I actually went to radioshack and bought a "Rubber Duck" antenna and after not being able to pick up anything on my homemade receivers, I just had to dissect it to see what made it tick.

I am now officially back into tower work. This is one I worked on taking down on April 10th. 2010
