This was my 1971 Fiat 850 Spyder roadster, blue with black interior. It met it's demise, (and I almost mine), on March 21, 1976. A drunk driver in the big Ford station wagon upside down in the picture, lost control, crossed over four lanes and crashed into my little Fiat. After a four month recuperation period I began my search and found another Fiat, the 850 Spyder pictured below.

This was my 1973 Fiat 850 Spyder roadster that replaced the destroyed '71. When I located it at a Fiat dealer in Williamsport, Pa. it was Fiat's strange HOT PINK color. After a fast and embarassing 50 mile drive home, ignoring the airhorns and waves of passing truckers, the car was IMMEDIATLY hidden in my garage until it could be re-painted the Corvette yellow it appears in the above picture. Unfortunately my luck with Fiat's continued on it's destructive streak. In late September 1978, a brief moment's inattention led me to the the back end of a rather large, STOPPED, Ford station wagon, (yes, another Ford wagon). With no injuries to the occupants, and the only damage being the muffler knocked off, the Ford wagon left the scene under it's own power. My Fiat left on the back of a tow truck, with minor injuries to my body and pride, I left in an ambulance.

The search began for another 850 Spyder, with none to be found I settled for a red 75 Fiat X/19. My bad luck had finally changed. After driving the red X/19 for several crash free years, I replaced it with a new 1980 black Fiat X/19. I drove that car over a hundred thousand fun filled miles until 1989, when I finally convinced my wife Pat that we really needed a CORVETTE, a real American sports car.

I had a lot enjoyment with the four Fiat's I've owned over the years, they were real fun cars.
