Welcome to the qsl.net mirror site for the Tutorial on Convolutional Coding with Viterbi Decoding!

There have been so many visitors to the tutorial on the main site (over 16,000 in the since the tutorial went on line in the spring of 1999), that the ISP has twice threatened to limit access.   (My wife just says I have to stop visiting here so often.)

To try to reduce the number of megabytes per month that are transferred from the other ISP, I have restructured the tutorial somewhat.  The main body of the tutorial has been broken up into five segments:

Introduction
Description of the Algorithms
Simulation Source Code Examples
Example Simulation Results
Bibliography and Links to Other FEC/ECC Sites

You can click on one of the links above to go directly to that section.  If you haven't visited before, you should start with the Introduction.

I have also taken this opportunity to update some of the links in the Bibliography section, and to try to eliminate any stale ones.  Unfortunately, a few valuable sites seem to have vanished from the web.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy the tutorial and learn what you need from it.
