Update: 2019


In 2019 the 3M Company closed down the Riverplace loacation and transfered to the new location on  McCallen Pass near Parmer and I-35 in Austin and the 3M Amateur Radio Club station was not included in the move and has been dissolved.

W3MRC is the Amateur radio callsign for the 3M Amateur Radio Club. Formally K9MBB until about 1998 when vanity callsigns became available.  The club station was located at what used to be the 3M Center just off FM 2222 near Riverplace Blvd.  The address was 6801 Riverplace Blvd. Austin Texas 78726.  The club had it's own radio room within the 3M facility with a variety of amateur radio gear ranging from 80 meter HF to UHF including a VHF & UHF repeater system. Also located there was the famous packet radio digipeater "AUSRLY-1" used for the Travis County Amateur Radio Emergency Service. TCARES.
