About W3MRC Club

In 2019 the 3M Company closed down the Riverplace Blvd. location and relocated to McCallen Pass in Austin. The 3M Amateur Radio Club station was not included in the move and has been dissolved.

W3MRC was the Amateur radio callsign for the 3M Amateur Radio Club formally K9MBB until about 1998 when vanity callsigns became available.  The club station was located at the 3M Austin Center at 6801 Riverplace Blvd. in North Austin. The W3MRC radio room / shack was located on the 5th floor within the 3M facility just under a large tower system with full size mono band Yagi antenna's on 40, 20, 15 & 10 meters. Included on the tower were also various VHF/UHF Yagi antennas as well as many vertical antenna's. Pictures are available in the links to the left.

 "AUSRLY-1" packet digipeater previouslly used for the Travis County Amateur Radio Emergency Service TCARES was part of the W3MRC club, antenna's mounted high on the tower giving its famous wide coverage

In 2019, the W3MRC repeaters have been relocated to the Cedar Park Regional Hospital, upgraded from the 1980's Kindercom systems to Bridgecom and are currently operational.
