A show of hands for ARRL membership revealed that everyone at the meeting was a member. The president reported that in updating the club data with the ARRL he would report about 48 of 52 active members.

The minutes of the last meeting were published and available. Revision A dated 1 December 2005 was approved as issued.

The financial asset balance was reported at close to $1,000.00 with the dues collected.  This was approved. Total active membership for 2005 was 52.

The question of when HEMARC donated $100.00 to the Museum was raised.  The treasurer will determine when the check was issued for 2005.

QSL, Certificates and W2W

Nick K3NY reported that the special event was very successful with good

Member support and with Fred AI3Z’s station.  2,735 Contacts were made.

1599 were from the contiguous US states.  A detailed summery is appended. (See link on website - Ed.)

We have 124 DXCC countries have been confirmed – out of 250 worked. The W2W draft certificate was passed around and much admired. 50 QSL cards have already been received.  Our policy is to use the bureau only rather than the IRC and greenback route.  Our total cost of the special events is quite modest.

FAR

HEMARC will recommend that FAR shift from the items that were in Auto Call to the FAR web site. The FAR meeting will be next week.  The FAR scholarship program was called to the attention of all and printed details were available.

Training

Congratulations are due the new Amateur Extra class students who completed testing this week. The following newly upgraded amateurs are:

Al FitzSimons - W3YRS,

Doug Pao - KB3MAL,

Scott D'Ambrosio - KB3MAP,

Chris Christopulos - KB3MAO,

Will Reece - KB3LWL,

Dave Shapiro - K3DOS.

The entry level Technician Class Training Course will begin January 10, 2006. Flyers announcing this program were distributed at the meeting for all members to post appropriately.  Local Radio Shacks etc are a good place. Note that Les WR3X and Rol K3RA are registered ARRL instructors.

The class is also registered with the ARRL. The General Class Course will begin sometime in April 2006.

The Station

The routers have not been successfully activated.  The museum routers are not working at this time which makes integrating our routers with them difficult.

The museum gallery plan is to make the station area look more like a ham shack with a room and more appropriate lighting, etc. More on this later from Rol and Les.

Officers for 2006

Being a month behind schedule it was determined that we would nominate and vote at this meeting. It was established that we had a quorum present of 18 of 52 members.

Candidates for elected officers:

President - Jim Nowotarski N3GOO

Executive Vice President - Don Ruokonen K3PRN

Treasurer – Fred Heath AI3Z

Secretary – Norm Smith WA6ABD

The slate was nominated by acclimation and the secretary cast the vote to elect.

Awards for Les Jamison WR3X

At the Museum Awards Banquet last week Les was nominated Historical Electronics Museum Volunteer of the year.  When this was announced at the meeting Jim N3GOO moved that Les be acclaimed HEMARC Amateur Radio Operator of the Year.  This was approved unanimously.

Minifests

Rusty Schaefer N3WKE announced that the Baltimore Amateur Radio Club free Minifest will be February 1, 2006 at the Timonium Fair Grounds Exposition Hall.

HEMARC 2006 Calendar

Jim N3GOO initiated a discussion of 2006 activities as follows:

Hamfests we formally support:

a. The BARC Timonium March two day Hamfest.  Nick K3NY reiterated that normally we have a display and a sale table at this Hamfest. Notice to the members for support will be sent.

b. The FARFest is September usually is supported by HEMARC by running the Equipment Test Table with sales space.

c. The June D-Day and December Pearl Harbor W2W special events should be planned.

d. Field Day at the 4th weekend in June.  Jim N3GOO will chair the floating field day committee.  Nick K3NY will chair the 80/40CW effort.  Fred AI3Z will support a station. A GOTA and VHF station will make 4 operating stations and class 2A operations at 100W power. These plans are tentative suggestions and additional member involvement is encouraged.
