Darrell R. Norris - WA3AJQ
It's hard to imagine the summer of 2005 is nearly over and its time to think about fall, the nomination and election of our club officers for the upcoming year.
Shirley KB3DTH, has announced her resignation as Secretary / Treasurer, effective immediately, as a result I'm asking for some help in filling that position until we hold our elections the end of this year. Also Roger, N3ULC has indicated he's planning to give up his Board position for 2006. Rusty WB3EUQ indicated he would be willing to continue as Vice President. As for President, you may or may not want me to continue. Maybe someone else would like to consider taking the job? Please think about the possibility of you filling any one of these positions.
At the last meeting Jimmy St Clair, N3TQR, presented me with an article indicating the FCC is giving consideration to dropping the five (5) words per minute code requirement for any class license. They apparently aren't considering any other changes at this time. It could be several months before the final decision is made.
The ARRL would like to keep the 5 WPM requirement for the Extra Class license. They also have some other changes they have proposed. The FCC will be listening to a lot of proposals before coming to any final decisions.
If you have anything you would like to have put on the club meeting agenda, please let any of the officers or board members know what it is, after all, it's "YOUR CLUB!"
