Picnic
Our clubs covered dish picnic was held on Sunday September 16th at Richard & Anne Stinson's beautiful home. The club furnished the hot dogs and hamburgers as we did last year. We had lots of food, the weather was very nice and there were about sixteen people in attendance. We want to again thank Richard and Anne for their wonderful hospitality.
Richard and Anne invited us back next year.
Simulated Emergency Test (S.E.T.)
A simulated emergency test was held Saturday October 6th during which several of our amateur radio operators participated in the exercise. The leader in our area was Robert Zugates, KB3JOF, who is our Indiana County Emergency Coordinator.
Scheduled club activities.
We plan to hold our multi county breakfast at Eat*N*Park on Saturday, October 20th starting around 9:00 AM. Feel free to spread the word and please feel free to bring a guest. I had Eat*N*Park plan for 30 to 40 people. Please don't let me down it's a great social event.
Our Christmas party is scheduled for Sunday December 9th at Fire Mountain in Indiana. Show up around 6:00 PM for some social time with dinner scheduled around 6:30 PM.
Our club has been asked to give a presentation about ham radio at a scout leadership meeting on October 11th at the Ben Franklin School auditorium. Cliff Miller, KB3AGT, provided a DVD titled, "Getting Started in Amateur Radio" to be shown at this meeting. Rusty O'Donnell, WB3EUQ, volunteered his services.

Some Reminders.
We're still looking for Monday night net control operators. Please consider taking this for a month of Monday nights.
We're always looking for new members, if you know of anyone who might be interested in ham radio and would like to join the club, please invite them to one of our meetings.
Robert Zugates, KB3JOF, our ARES Emergency Coordinator now has identification cards he's issuing.
Please plan to attend our meetings. There the first Tuesday of each month at Eat*N*Park in Indiana. The board meets at 7:00 PM with the regular meeting at 7:30 PM.
Our January 2008 meeting is scheduled for Wednesday January 2nd since the first Tuesday is New Years Day. Please mark your calendar.
For what it's worth, we have forty two (42) members in the club.

Financial Report: Kim Frech
Financial report was given.
Kim reported we spent $64.73 for food, plates etc. for the picnic. Thanks to Kim for picking these items up, we appreciate it.

A covered dish picnic was enjoyed Sunday September 16th at Richard & Anne Stinson's. The club extends their appreciation to Richard & Anne for their hospitality and allowing us to utilize their beautiful home for this event.

RACES ID card issuance is still not determined.
There's a rumor, that the FCC may be doing away with RACES.

Rusty now has a modem and would be receptive to setting Echolink up at his home. If anyone has a computer they would like to donate to the club, please do so!

Members as well as Board members are free to have agenda items added for discussion at the meetings.< br />
Darrell has a member's nomination list prepared for the 2008 elections.
Darrell determined Eat*N*Park will loan us their DVD player.
Marcia Malcolm, KD4ITP brought their video player.

Scout leadership meeting - Darrell Norris WA3AJQ
Bill Menk was contaced by Phil Kopczyk, WB3SXK, requesting our radio club participate in a Boy Scout / Cub Scout leadership meeting on October 11th at 7:00PM at the Ben Franklin Elementary School Gym. We're asked to provide a discussion / presentation on amateur radio. I called Phil on Sunday September 30th and discussed the possibility of showing a DVD or Video about ham radio, he liked the idea. I explained a demo is somewhat difficult.
Rusty O'Donnell volunteered his services.
Jamboree On The Air is the last full weekend in October.
Multi County Breakfast - Darrell Norris, WA3AJQ
Darrell has scheduled the multi county breakfast for Saturday October 20th at Eat*N*Park in Indiana starting around 9:00 AM.
Darrell asked everyone to spread the word. Eat*N*Park has added this to their schedule.
VE Testing -- Bill McMillen, N3QM - 1st Saturday in April & October
Bill Mc Millen reported they only have only one person requesting to be tested. He may cancel the session.
Christmas Party - Roger, N3PHX, & Kathy, N3SJY Lute
Roger & Kathy Lute made arrangements at Fire Mountain for our Christmas party on Sunday evening December 9th at 6:00 PM, dinner at 6:30 PM.
Darrell reminded everyone that that at a previous meeting we authorized Roger and Kathy Lute to schedule our party at either Hoss's or Fire Mountain.
2008 Nominations & December Elections: Darrell Norris, WA3AJQ
Darrell gave each member present a form for the 2008 nominations and asked them to complete it before they left.
DVD - Video presentation on amateur radio: Cliff Miller, KB3AGT
Cliff provided a DVD explaining DX (Distance) communications. This was shown at the end of the meeting. We utilized Eat'N'Park's 13" DVD player.
January 1st, 2008 meeting - Darrell WA3AJQ
At the September meeting, Darrell indicated the first Tuesday in January 2008 is on New Years Day. A motion was made by Richard Stinson, KB3KBC, and was second by Fred Maize, KM3M, to schedule the January's meeting for Wednesday January 2nd 2008.
Darrell has rescheduled this new date with Eat*N*Park.

Cliff Miller, KB3AGT, announced the WMCA in Johnstown is sponsoring a walk Sunday, October 7th volunteers will meet at the Westmont Middle School around 8:15 to 8:30 AM. The event should end around 2:00 PM.
Dave Dzelsky, N3DZ, announced there is an organ concert scheduled for October 20th at Dormont, PA. If you're interested in attending, please contact Dave for additional information.
