While here in Florida this winter I installed Ham Call 2006. I went through it and searched the various and somewhat local Zip Code areas. Much to my surprise we have some one hundred ninety one (191) licensed amateur radio operators listed.
A break down follows:
| Indiana | 83 | |
|---|---|---|
| Blairsville | 25 | |
| Marion Center | 13 | |
| Homer City | 25 | |
| Seward | 11 | |
| Armagh | 06 | |
| New Florence | 08 | |
| Penn Run | 10 | |
| Spring Church | 07 | |
| Brush Valley | 03 |
For sometime I've thought about contacting these people asking them to consider joining our club or asking them to, at least, consider making a donation in any amount to the upkeep of our repeater.
The request could be done with a simple post card. I can print the labels from my program.
I've printed up some index cards to circulate at the May meeting for review, opinions and discussion. Please give this some thought between now and the May meeting. The exact wording is included at the end of this news letter.
I attended the monthly meeting of the Hernando County Amateur Radio Association last Thursday evening at the Hernando Park, Community Activity Center, in Brooksville, Florida. I received a very nice welcome and enjoyed being there.
Their club consists of forty six (46) members with about eighteen in attendance plus, me and another fellow as guests. They pledge allegiance to the flag and yes, read the minutes of their previous meeting. The only relationship they have with the Spring Hill Club is that they have the same secretary. They have a regular Thursday night net with little participation. They reported an average of about eight people checking in. They have a very impressive treasury. I was told they made about $1,800 on their ham fest. They have a great location and a big turnout at the fair grounds.
Their web site is: www.hcara.org for anyone that might be interested.
If you know of anyone that might be interested in ham radio, feel free to bring them to a meeting.
Remember, our club belongs to forty one members.
Thanks and 73's
Darrell Norris
