June 2005 News Letter

Darrell R. Norris - WA3AJQ

I would like to thank those who organized, taught or in any way participated in the two day training sessions in April, as well as everyone that participated in the April 17th MS walk and the May 14th Torrance walk.

We were honored at Torrance by having the two young ladies participate after having just completed their Tech training classes and obtaining their licenses, thanks to both of them. I reminded them that they are automatic members of our club with their dues paid for the remainder of the first year. I invited them to attend our next meeting, hope to see them there. I would like to get them included on our membership roster for 2005.

We need to conclude the planning for field day June 25th and 26th and start talking about a summer picnic, if we plan to have one.

A little about the Eat-N-Park situation; I was told on Tuesday night, May 3rd by the shift manager, that they could no longer accommodate us at 7:00 PM because of their increased business, effective immediately. I discussed this with the General Manager on Saturday, the 7th, he seemed somewhat surprised by what I was told. I told him we had to review our options, without going into all the details, I was told to continue as usual until at least September, he didn't think there would a problem then either.

Our June 7th meeting will be at 8:00 PM, from then on the meetings will continue as usual, first Tuesday of each month, the board meeting at 7:00 PM and the regular meeting at 7:30.

Roger N3ULC and Robert KB3JOF are working on our Web Site. They hope to have it up and running again soon, lots of luck to them. They are receptive to any ideas you might have regarding the "New Look".

Have a great summer.

Christmas party: The Lutes spent a lot of time researching place to have our 2005 party. They gave the club the results, the club picked 3 and voted on them. The majority of the membership picked Hoss's, because the other places you must have 30 people or more or we have to pay for the room. Hoss's said we could have a bigger room for this year's party.
