History of the Indiana County Amateur Radio Club The Indiana County Amateur Radio Club was founded in 1953 by a group of local amateurs. The club started with four members and has grown over the years to 18 members in 1955 to 21 members in 1956. And in 1985 the club had 54 members. Presently we have 49 members. The meetings were first held at the Methodist church on Gompers Avenue which is no longer there. The meetings have had a number of different locations over the last 52 years. The club dues started at $3.00 a year and our now $20.00 a year. In 1969 stamps where .06. The treasury balance for March 1966 was $90.72. The club was incorporated in March 1963 by: Olen Fleming, Sheldon Davis, Carl Buchanan, Denny Marbach, and Clifford Porter. The 1970 Novice class had 24 students and books cost $6.00. A student in a 1968 code class was Fred Maize KM3M. We have the following members with 20 or more years as club members: Jerry Keihl WB3DUD, Fred Maize KM3M, Dick Malcolm KA3IYT and Rusty O'Donnell WB3EUQ. |
