The ARRL Field Day was June 27th & 28th A number of our club members participated in the event and deemed it a big success. Setup was Friday evening at our repeater site and a great covered dish picnic was enjoyed Saturday evening at the same location. Breakdown was Sunday morning. The weather was pretty nice for a change. Twenty five people attended; The breakdown of contacts were: Phone 366; Digital 7; CW 53 for a total of 486 points. A network of computers were utilized for logging. Thanks to all who participated in mowing grass, cleaning up the facility, installing antennas, setting up the computers or just came to the picnic to socialize. Our Field Day organizers were: Fred Maize KM3M and Dave Dzelsky N3DZ; Picnic Coordinator was: Bev Sorisio ============================================================== A little bit of interesting information: My new version of “Ham Call” updated thru June 7, 2009 provides any number of sorts. Terry Carnahan KB3JOD, is our net coordinator and is looking for people to serve as net control, so please consider helping out. Robert Zugates, KB3JOF, is our Indiana County ARES Emergency Coordinator. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our club meets the first Tuesday of every month at Eat*N*Park in Indiana. Everyone is welcome. Please consider joining our club. Our membership to date is thirty six. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Our clubs covered dish picnic is scheduled for September 20th at Jimmy St Clairs, around 1:00 PM, I’m hoping for a good turnout. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It appears our club Christmas party will be Saturday December 12th around 6:00 PM at Hoss’s in Indiana. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ICARC is having a Foxhunt at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Everyone is welcome to play; you do not need to be a club member. The fox frequency is 145.800 Mhz. The transmission is FM so there is a continuous carrier to direction find and the audio you will hear is CW. The audio loop is "W3BMD F F F F F" ( F is ..-. ). KB3QJZ, Christine, found it the last time so she will be hiding it. The fox is a .50 caliber ammunition box painted white. You will be able to drive to within a few steps of it. There will be a container with a sign-in sheet beside it so we know who actually found it and when. Whoever finds it first gets to hide it next time. As in the March foxhunt, the county will be divided into quarters using the same system the EMA does. Route 119 is the east-west divider and Route 422 is the north-south divider. Listen to the 146.910 repeater at 11:00 AM on Saturday, the 18th. Christine will announce that the fox is on and transmitting. She will also specify which quarter of the county it is in. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks and 73’s, Darrell R.
