What To Bring To The Exam

First, make sure you register by contacting the VE Team Coordinator. This ensures that you have everything you need and that you have the correct time and place (and that the exam session has not been cancelled). Ask for directions if you are not familiar with the exam location. Be sure you arrive promptly.

If you have any special needs (blind, deaf, handicapped, etc.) be sure to notify the Exam Coordinator so special accommodations can be made for you.

Bring with you:

Two forms of identification, one of which should be a valid photo ID
(Driver's License, School ID, Social Security Card, Passport, Birth Certificate, etc.)
Completed NCVEC Form 605 (available at the test site, or download and pre-fill: Download in PDF format or ARRL Version of NVEC 605)
If upgrading, your original license and one photocopy (photocopy will not be returned)
Any Certificates of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) and one photocopy for elements previously passed
(CSCE's are valid for only one year from date of issue)
Medical Exemption (signed by your doctor) if applicable (Morse code exam elements only)
A check to cover the exam session fee (nominal amount, about $5-10)
Paper, pencils (2 or more with erasers)
Calculator (particularly for higher-grade exams). If programmable, you may have to erase before taking exam
Anything else your Exam Coordinator asks you to bring
