WARC February 2001 Newsletter

Our Next Meeting:  Friday  February 9, 2001   8 PM
At  Wantagh Public Library

Hopefully the weather will cooperate next friday night and we will have
A nice turnout for the second meeting of 2001.

The scheduled speaker for the meeting will be ARRL Hudson Division Director Frank Fallon N2FF.  Frank will be reporting on the ARRL Board Meeting which he attended two weeks ago in Dallas.  Items on the agenda included ARRL policy on HF No-Code licensing, 40 meters expansion & spectrum issues, ARRL dues increase and many other issues.

Due to a family commitment; I (Vic Panzica WA2JIW) will not be able to preside over the meeting.  Our VP Vin Vignatti KD2EP; will be taking care of the show.

The business meeting agenda will include a continued discussion of last month's issues including; club field trips, a report on the club web site status and of course the monthly report on Propagation & DX and winter contests activity.

We can also start 2001 Field Day planning.  If any members are interested in joining the 2001 Field Day Committee, please step forward.  We'll try to have the FD Committee appointed at the March meeting.

Sid K2LJH and myself were the WARC reps at HRU2001; which was held two
weekends ago at Babylon Town Hall Annex.  Due to the early morning snow storm
many were unable to attend.  However those of us who made it were treated to the well organized and informative agenda. The turnout was probably less than 50%, but they delayed the presentations one hour.  I got there at noon and after spending an hour at the WARC table; I attended three of the afternoon topics on PSK31, Satellites and 6 Meter DXing.
