BY4AOH - Olympic Hotel Amateur Radio Station
Jiang Yi-hua, BD4DY, works at the
hotel and operates the amateur radio station which is located in its own office on the 1st
floor. He was my guide at the station during my visit in February, 2002.
Pictured on the right is me at the main
operating position. A Kenwood TS850-S is used for HF. There are assorted VHF/UHF radios
for 2m & 70cm operation. Phone, CW, and SSTV are the main modes.
The antenna farm is located
on the hotel roof. In this view from the ground, you see the 3-element HF yagi (up 30
meters), and the UHF & VHF antennas. Not visible is the Butternut vertical (up
10 meters). The dishes provide satellite TV (for the hotel guests).
