Minutes of the Meeting, 9/16/98

BUSINESS:
Budget: Budgets submitted. Total allocation request was $580 to cover setting up the satellite station, QST and CQ renewals, and honoraria for Dr.Volts.
Administration: Club members were designated to head up various club projects and activities:

Dr Volts: October 28, 1998... Cyrus was looking into getting university permission. A place has not been decided upon yet, but possibilities include Rockefeller, Phillips, and Goldwin Smith.

Contests: The Fall contest season is here! Upcoming contests include:

September 26 - 27, 1998 CQ Worldwide DX Contest, RTTY. RST, state, and CQ zone.
October 24 - 25, 1998 CQ Worldwide DX Contest, SSB. RS and CQ zone.
November 7 - 9, 1998 ARRL November Sweepstakes, CW. 2100Z Nov 7 to 0300Z Nov 9.
November 21 - 23, 1998 ARRL November Sweepstakes, SSB. 2100Z Nov 21 to 0300Z Nov 23.
November 28 - 29, 1998 CQ Worldwide DX Contest, CW. RS and CQ zone.
December 12 - 13, 1998 ARRL 10 Meter Contest.

Contests highlighted in red are those for which a club entry is planned.

Misc.:

  1. Need rotors to install the satellite equipment; would like to install before weather gets bad.
  2. Still looking for a permanent station trustee.
  3. Appreciation to Steve Powell for serving the club for approx. 15 years.
  4. Discussion of ATV issues: antenna polarization, etc...

Activities:

  1. Possible participation in Jamboree this year?
  2. Cornell Hamfest... Start looking for a location on or near campus.
