Meeting Minutes

Business:
Barton Hall Antenna Repair: Members looked at
the antenna in the middle of the roof of Barton and determined
that it couldn't be unbent without a significant amount of work.
It also needs new ground radials and needs to be weatherproofed.
We will look into this in the future to satisfy Cornell's rooftop
coordinator (and to make it work right...)
Budget: The semester's budget requests were
submitted to the SAFC. The club may be able to get reimbursed for
$500 worth of phone bills.
Ethernet: Most members are interested in
installing an internet connection at the club station. Possible
connection methods were discussed including, a 10 base T or
thin-net connection to a ROTC hub downstairs, a spread spectrum
wireless connection to another building using either a commercial
or amateur band, and a line of sight infra red connection to
another building. Charlie plans to talk to Ross about the
fesability and cost of various options. At the end of the meeting
it looked like a possible solution using the ROTC hub may have
been found. More to come later.
Membership: 2 new members came: Madan ?, an EE
grad student, and Katie Whitman. Both are interested in pursuing
licenses.
Misc: Tom is in the process of setting up an
optimal PC with parts from the club's old 386 and new 486.
Hamfests: Elmira hamfest to be held 9-27
Activities: Contest schedule and other relevant

Next Meeting: October 1, 1997
