I was first licensed in 1966 as WB2ZHA (Technician class) eventually I up-graded to General, Advanced, and finally Extra Class at which time I applied for a vanity call sign and received W2BOB.

I operate all HF bands (SSB & CW) as well as 2 meters and 70 cm. I participate regularly in the CBS Retirees Net (146.910 mhz in Yonkers, NY every Mon. Wed. & Fri. at 1300 UTC) where I serve as alternate net control. I check in regulary to the Broadcast Net daily on 14.255 mhz at 2100 UTC and on Mon. Wed. & Fri. on either 7.230 or 3.855 mhz at 1400 UTC.

In addition to ham radio I am also involved in the hobbies of model railroading and prototype railroading (steam engines) with a special interest in Colorado narrow gauge. I am deeply invloved in music and play the Pedal Steel Guitar. I am a co-founder and President of the Pedal Steel Guitar Association Inc., a non-profit organization with close to 1500 members worldwide, dedicated to educating those interested in this most versatile musical instrument.

I have a deep interest in radio and television broadcasting, having spent more than 35 years in the broadcasting industry.

I hold an FCC General Radio Telephone (First Class) license in addition to my ham ticket.

WAPC*-AM&FM Riverhead, NY (Announcer/Country Music DJ/Chief Engineer/ News Director) 1963-1967 * Later became WHRF then WRCN. Also worked part time at WPAC - AM&FM - Patchogue, NY and WLNG-AM - Sag Harbor, NY (Engineer) 1963-1967
