Meriden Amateur Radio Club Awards First Scholarship

WALLINGFORD June 20, 2003

The Meriden Amateur Radio Club awarded Royal Allard (rt) of Meriden the Frank Darmofalski "W1FD" Scholarship. The award was presented by Frank at the June 2003 meeting. Royal is a member of the class of 2003 of H.C. Wilcox Technical High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and valedictorian of his class. During his high school program Royal was selected to participate in the school's Tech-Prep program, a program which allows a student to collect college credits for honor level classes. Royal will receive a total of 14 college credits for these honor level classes. He is also a member of the Student Council and holds two jobs outside of school. Royal plans to attend the University of Connecticut - Waterbury branch - to study electrical engineering.
