The JC Tri-Bander

... a limited-space antenna system for the 160, 80, and 40 meter amateur bands requiring no tuning and occupying less than 130 feet of space.

This system consists of a standard 80/75 meter dipole and a 160/40 meter short dipole fed at a common center insulator with 52 ohm coax.

Bandwidths with less than 2:1 VSWR are as follows:
40 meters: 215 KHz 75/80 meters: 200 KHz 160 meters: 25 KHz

All components of this antenna system have been carefully selected for optimum electrical characteristics, physical strength, lightness, and resistance to corrosion. Eye-bolts and other fasteners are made of stainless steel.f stainless steel. stainless steel.f stainless steel.

This antenna can be used with maximum amateur legal power. A good grade of RG-8-U, RG-8-X, or RG-58 coax cable is recommended. If desired, an antenna tuner may be used.Note that element lengths for 160 and 75/80 are provided long enough to be trimmed to your favorite center frequencies. The 40 meter elements are set for the center of that band. Trimming information is shown in the sketch below.

After unpacking, attach the center insulator to a tree or building, then carefully uncoil each section. Pull hard to straighten. However, kinks must be avoided. The ends of this antenna must be suspended with non-conducting material such as polypropylene rope, as they contain HIGH R.F. VOLTAGES.

Close proximity to other antennas may affect resonance and VSWR. Loading coils must be kept in the clear. Use the heat-shrinkable tubing provided to weather-proof your PL-259 plug.
