Our Field Day 2004 site was at the Picnic Pavilion, about 200 yards south of the Heublein Tower, Talcott Mountain State Park . The Heublein Tower is about 1.5 miles from the Talcott Mountain State Park entrance off of Simsbury Road (CT Route 178). Drive in access was also available off of CT Route 44 from Montevideo Road towards the top of Avon Mountain (near the boundary of Avon and West Hartford). We had 24-hour access to flush toilets and running water. The site was secured by our trustee, Don Moore, K1QPN. Thank you Don!
Field Day 2004 started with setup at 8:00 AM (6:00 AM for the early bird crew) on Saturday, June 28th and ended at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 29th.
Our HF antennas consisted of a G5RV on 80-40-20-15-10, horizontal dipole on 80-40-20-15-10, horizontal wire beam on 20-15-10, and an off-center fed Carolina Windom on 80-40-20-15-10. For VHF there was a 3 element 6 meter beam and satellite antennas for 2 meters and 440. All of the wire antennas were strung between the trees at the park.
Other modes (VHF, Data and satellite) were present. In addition to three HF stations (3A CT), there was VHF equipment and 2 generators.
