PAST STORM SPOTTING
Our club goes out for strom watch. We usually have green or amber
lights on our vehicles for identification and safety purposes. We also
have SKYWARN stickers on the cars. We have direct communication with
the National Weather Service in LaCrosee (WX9ARX) via our repeater.
- April 11, 2001 - We were called out for spotting. There were
some severe storms in the area, but no damage was reported in Howard Co.
- May 1, 2001 - We were called out for spotting. The line of
stroms went north of Howard Co and several funnel clouds and tornadoes
were reported in MN.
- April 18, 2002 - Several of us went out. One group went
to the southwest part of the county and one group went to the west central
part. No severe weather was reported in Howard Co, as the storms moved
to the south and north of us.
- May 6, 2002 - A few of us went out to watch a storm south of Cresco
and heading to Ridgeway. 1/4" to 1/2" hail was reported aalog highway
